  • Mistakenly posted this review here, it was actually an Epoch.

Had at dinner with Natalia. Since I received this wine as part of the Dry Creek Vineyard Wine Club, it has been cellared under optimal conditions, and it shows with terrific aging. I would say this wine is at its peak.

Since the restaurant did not have the proper stemware; certain properties were not able to be assessed. The nose showed hints of berry and chocolate. The tannin structure has allowed the wine to age gracefully; the tannins are now fully integrated. Flavors of mature berries, dark chocolate, tobacco, and cassis. Outstanding length and depth. Long finish. Can't find anything to criticize about this wine.

My date thought this wine would be better without dinner, perhaps just some cheese and crackers. She might be right, since I am now trying it at home three hours later and it is excellent by itself.

Three hours later, at home, the wine is still performing at a very high level. Excellent wine. Hold or drink--your choice. Could last another few years at this level.

  • A great find. This has aged extremely well. It had the profile of a well-aged Cali cab, and the fruit was still quite young for a 13-year-old wine. What I really loved about this was the beautiful tannin structure and a distinct berry flavor, which I pegged as boysenberry, that I have never experienced in any other wine. If you can find this, it's a great buy.

  • Fruit was a little thin and tannis not integrated. Not convinced this is going to get any better.

  • This is a wine with majestic proportions, it has everything, lenght, breath and depth. It's huge and supernaturally ripe and fleshy with a nose of dark fruits with hints of lavender, chocolate and exotic spice flood through it. Full -body, round and deep with a mouthfilling melange of tart berries, plums, vanilla and dark bitter chocolate with moderate tannin and a long fruity finish. This is a superb wine with polished elegance and purity plus a structure to last two decates away.OUTSTANDING.

  • I had this a couple of years ago at the Rainwater Restaurant in San Diego, so I don't remember specifics. All I can say is "wow." Definitely the best Cab I've ever had.
