  • PNP revealing a beautiful classic California pinot nose. Initially the wine was not balanced. The tannins were overbearing but there was beautiful sweet red-fruit splash that lingered on the palate. After less than 1 hour, the fruit was gone and the wine became very 1 dimensional. Sad!

  • Another bottle of this fabulous wine! Decanted for 2.5 hours (with some slight sediment) after the initial tasting showed a wine that was rough and acidic. With air, and chilled to about 65 degrees, the color darkened, the nose opened and on the silky medium plus bodied palate there poured forth lots of dark red fruits and spice, a touch of earth and perfectly balancing acidity. Well stored - and well aired - bottles of this wine will continue to provide drinking enjoyment for several more years.

  • Our guests insisted on experiencing this wine - after hearing us sing its praises. The wine was decanted for only 30 minutes (instead of our preferred 2+ hours) and chilled to just below room temperature (instead of ~64 degrees). The second glass was better than the first as the wine continued to open and integrate. The color evolved from a medium violet to a deep dark violet. The brighter red fruits on the nose, as well as on the palate, became darker. The medium plus palate also yielded spice and a touch of pepper. A real joy to experience, even under less-than-ideal conditions.

  • We continue to greatly enjoy these 2012 Pisoni Estate Pinots. We bought several of this vintage at auction back in 2017 and 2018 and have been enjoying them since, with only a few bottles left.
This bottle was decanted for just under three hours and chilled to about 63F and was as good as the one we had on 3/27. This showed that a decant of more than 3 hours is not necessary to coax out all the good stuff this wine is holding, and, the slight chill enhances the delivery of all those goodies. Again, this wine should (at a minimum) hold through 2023 and into (through?) 2024. With a serious decant and a slight chill it will continue to bring great drinking pleasure.
