  • First of 4 bottles picked up at auction. One hour double decant then taken over to HMCs for Easter dinner. It is singing by then......enjoyed over 2-3 more hours from the open bottle before and during dinner.

Dark purple in the glass. Very typical Napa cab nose of dark red/black fruit. You can't possibly mistake it for anything else. Btw, I've NEVER had a Vineyard 7&8 wine before.....

The palate is smooth, dark plum fruit with great integration at this point in time. Tannins are rounded, smooth and sweet. This is a very delightful wine. Glad to have a few more bottles.......probably drinking at its peak? I probably won't hold the rest of the bottles for too many years....maybe will finish them over the next 18 months? Simply because they are so good.......96-97 for me tonight. Just rich, deep Napa cab fruit. Not a 'manufactured' Napa wine in any way.

  • Pulled this bottle for Jackson Hole and it delivered.

I visited 7 & 8 once and purchased once. Beautiful property with stunning views from the tasting room.

The 2012 vintage is still holding strong and has a long life ahead of it. Early drinking window even after 13 years in the bottle.

Dark fruited and serious with not much development on tertiary flavors which will make this an even more impressive bottle. I'm going to approach my last bottle 5+

    Hold for further development.

  • 24 Napa Reds: All tasted double blind. Brief impressions. This wine is marked by a bold, ripe, sweet fruit core on the one hand and by a lot of herbal, green notes on the other hand. In the flight before we had a similar flavor profile which turned out to be a fabulous 2011 from Pulido Walker, hence I thought to have another 2011 wine in my glass, just with a tad more ripeness and boldness. When revealed it all make sense with the 2012 vintage which produced bolder and denser wines and riper fruit than the 2011 vintage, but with 50% Cabernet Franc in the blend, which explains all the herbal and green flavors. While this works is a beautiful mix and should work quite well, the precision and length were not up there with the best wines that night. Still, this is a good wine.

  • Napa battle (Napa Grill, Zurich): Tasted blind, double-decanted. Dried tobacco leaves, scorched earth and dark berry fruit. Intense and dense with alluring sweet angles to it. Palate is concentrated but with fewer layers than I would have expected, tannins slightly coarse.

  • Fantastic. Probably drank too early though. Still very tannic.
