  • this was the second of two bottles tasted tonight. i knew some time ago that this wine was over the hill. held on to last two (half) bottles for sentimental reasons. as the summer is drawing to an end and as i become more objective in pruning the cellar, i decided that the moment had arrived to bring this story to a close. as expected, the wine was almost completely oxidized. the experience was like drinking sherry rather than wine. surprisingly, a hint of fruit remained (even more evident than in the first bottle of the evening) which i don't recall being present in the last bottle tasted. i enjoyed this wine in its youth. those still holding bottles really need to bight the bullet.

  • this bottle was a little bit better preserved than the last few. however, oxidation is evident and the wine is definitely past its prime. golden color. some honey and walnuts evident but not entirely pleasant.

  • not as bad as the last few bottles but not as good as the bottles we had a year ago. can't really make any apolgies for this wine as it is oxidized and no longer shows the beautiful fruit that was evident in its youth. the sweet honeysuckle was not showing today. tasted more like oxidized stainless steel. can't really fault the winemaker. should have known not to hold on to half bottles so long.

  • Hints of tangerine, white flower, stone. Little butter, little finish. Slightly oxidated. Drink now and don't expect much. (more current vintages are one of my favorite $15-$20 wines).
