Purchased at auction from WineBid, this bottle had a sunken cork that was not disclosed to bidders. The wine was destroyed. I no longer do business with this purveyor due to their poor bottle inspection practices and very questionable statements of provenance.

Solid dull red color. Mellow sweet sandalwood. Medium weight, a little ripe red fruit on the attack, but thereafter mainly high acidity and minerality. This is a very respectable 40+ year old crianza. God bless it for hanging in there, but there is little to look forward to apart from continued drying out and dropping of the remaining fruit. The aromas were far more appealing than the flavors.

I think the drinking window has just passed. It's not bad, but it's definitely losing a lot of the robustness it had just recently. Lighter on the palate, with a bit of tartness. Cherry, strawberry, golden raisin, and blueberry on the finish. Bricked color. Nice musty nutmeggy nose. If you still have some in your cellar, now's the time to get into it.

Golden raisins, plums, buttered toast, apricots, cloves. Drinking perfectly right now.
