Exceptional deep Pinot with fair amount of wood. Spicy, dark fruit, decent acidity, lots of length. One of the best NSG I have ever had. Still plenty of life. Excellent bordering on classic

A bit of a puzzling wine. Very structured and muscular. It took everyone to Italy given the roasted herbs, meaty aromas, and not much fruits on the palate or nose. This was in the decanter for about 6 hours and then finally for the last couple of pours, it opened up to a more elegant Burgundian form. Enjoyable wine but not a Burgundian experience in any sense of the word. The main question becomes if Laurent's 2002 are ready?

Dinner at Dibbs's: Fruit supposedly sourced from one of the seminal makers in the village. A confusing one, there was some cedar and tar that brought me to Bordeaux at first, but the earthiness and acidity brought me to somewhere in Italy - but definitely did not think Burgundy. Muscular brute of a wine with some savoury notes that eventually become more Burg-like with air. Heavy on the extraction with firm tannins but the 200% oak is definitely a myth based on this showing.

Opened 2 hours in advance. Decanted just before drinking. A must. The deposit is astringent. Complex, deep nose of red fruits with a hint of licorice. Balanced, quite full bodied (for a Burgundy). Very satisfying. At its peak (bottle purchased upon release and perfectly stored).
