CellaRaid 2017 (Rancho de Los Olivos): From a magnum. Not a wine about which anyone can be unmoved or indifferent. Pinning it down is another matter! Served at cellar temperature. A heavy style of orange wine, portrays itself like a red wine, more or less, yet is truly singular in the end. Orange peel and strawberry on the nose, but something stalky on the palate, maybe rhubarb, kind of chalky too. Expansive flavors, very long finish. Fascinating.

Difficult wine, do not know what to do with it. Drink cold or room temp? Decant? Crazy orange color, not much in the nose when cold and reminds me dry Sherry. Any advice for remaining bottles?

deep orange to garnet, clear, no fizz, medium legs medium low acid, no tannins! medium finish. with idaho trout on the grill, asparagus, sicialian style broccoli, sweet potato. overall, at its drink peak or slightly past. looks like a red ale.

I'd had a bottle in my cellar for good few years and decided to try it.
Amazing orange colour - could be mistaken for Irn Bru or any wine that is horribly oxidised.
At first poured a sample into a small tasting glass, and wasn't impressed, but using a much larger glass with a decent airspace showed a completely different wine that wowed.
The nose didn't wow, but the taste certainly did. Complex fruit and floral notes and a stunning finish. Even at 13 years it has power, length and impact.
Fantastic wine.

5 hour slow-o, followed by 3 hours in the decanter. Crystal clear pale orange hue, terrific complexity on the palate. Finished with considerable length.
