  • I enjoyed this bottle more that the previous. An extra month's ageing together with opening an hour before serving and drawing off a glass to lubricate the chef may have helped. The nose and medium/light palate were a lot more expressive with the fresh red fruit and minerals fleshed out and enhanced by the delicious clay and leather notes which I recall from earlier vintages but missed on the previous bottle. I hope that I can find more bottles at Carrefour. Good wine and good QPR.

  • I have been a fan of René-Noël Legrand for many years and have bought directly at the estate several times, the last time being in 2008. Of his wines which I have owned, the best were from '89, 90, 96 and 97 and were gutsy, full of tangy red fruit, clay, leather with a tannic structure which demanded some ageing; their being priced in a very friendly way did not spoil the picture! This 2013 (made, I think, by his daughter Clotilde) did not rival these memories but hardly could given the difficult vintage. There was some very nice slightly sour red fruit and minerals particularly on the nose but the medium/light palate was a little reticent. Unlike THT, I was not bothered by dry tannins but I agree that more airing than I gave would be beneficial. It went well with assorted goat cheeses.
