Good, similar comments to 2015. Robust and full of character, but lacking in elegance, and a bit spikey. Good blueberry and dark fruits, liquorice and leather, good body and tannin and oak, but tannins are slightly harsh and it's a bit lacking in integration. July 2018

Very good. 14.5% alc. quite rich and sumptuous Colour: deep bright black currant with serious legs Bouquet: blackberry, blueberry, raspberry, violets, quite perfumed with hints of pencil shavings, licorice, vanillan, and of course, hot alcohol though this is largely balanced by the fruit characters Palate: similar flavours as bouquet, sweet fruit balanced by dry finish, reasonable length, uplifted acid and clean finish, alcohol well balanced by fruit which drives the wine at this stage. Oak influence seems minimal on palate. Needs a little more age to soften a bit - seems quite spicey at this stage. But a terrific price point for this quality from Aldi. January 2014
