Coravin fun - Caronne Ste Gemme and Branaire Ducru (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. A little red fruit cordial initially backed by bramble and blackcurrant, sweet spice, slight jubey notes, a little savoury herbaceous note with time as well as leather and slightly meaty underpin. Juicy, fleshy, a little herbaceous note joins the slightly bitter red and black fruits, tannins are quite hard and blocky, a bit 'tough' after the nose. Hmm

Coravin fun - Caronne Ste Gemme (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas of blackcurrant, bramble, plum, a little jubey note, alcohol prickle and sweet spice. Very slight volatility and a touch of herbaceousness with time in the glass. Juicy, savoury, brambly, that green note translates to the palate, talc textured tannins persist. Long. Hmm.

I'm surprised I only noticed one review mentioning 'barnyard'. I know a lot of Bordeaux has some Brett, which can actually add some complexity to the wine, but this was overwhelming. Brett killed everything except for the tannin on the finish, which was accompanied by a classic metallic flavour. Faulty and disappointing.

Well done cru bourgois, but not exceptionel like Les Ormes de Pez by the Cazes family (Chateau Lynch-Bages / Haut Batailley, Pauillac). Good companion to Pizza with mushrooms. Worth the price of less than 20 €.

Dark fruit
Hints of vanilla
Tannic - too austere for me
A reasonable Bordeaux but nothing exciting
