  • Almost black with deep purple undertones. Aroma of pepper, dry oak, varnish and black berries. Beautiful smooth flavours of plum, blackberry, blueberry. Dark chocolate, almost tiramisu, some light aniseed to finish. Fine, smooth and perfectly integrated tannin. Required little decanting, I actually think too much will detract from it. Great acidity, fresh but not overbearing. An around well integrated wine, I just know it won’t be as good tomorrow night.
One of those examples where JH was more on the mark the the WineFront.

  • Black core with a purple rim. Spice aroma standout, anise, white pepper, bay leaf. Blueberry, blackberry, raspberry. Dark chocolate, creamy smooth. Full body, dusty tannin, a bit grippy. Crisp acidity. Powerful flavours, spicy, almost gritty, a bit hot. Maybe a bit too individual for me, certainly not lacking in character.

  • Almost black in colour with a thin Crimson hue. Aroma of oak, dried fruit, dried mushroom, pepper, shoe polish. Blackberry, blueberry, plum, dark chocolate, cappuccino, turmeric, cardamom. Dry aroma, full body, spicy and dried fruit. Balanced acidity, long finish. Tannin is large but not grippy. Much improved from my last bottle, I think 6 months ago. I wasn't looking forward to opening this one but now I'm looking forward to the next one.
Came back to the second half of the bottle a couple of nights later. More pepper and spice in the aroma. A sweet licorce in the flavour, small black berries. Tannin is a bit smoother. Definitely improved from the first night. Maybe a bit more stemmy to finish.
