  • Bottle stored in a EuroCave in pristine storing condition.
    Cork was in excellent condition.

In the glass the wine was a beautiful golden colour, thick and very clean. From the glass an overwhelming sweet bouquet of lemon, apple, and honey.
"Sweetness" was a common description around the tasting table. The amazement ended there however. In the mouth, acidity overwhelmed the apple lemon characteristic and was a bit of a disappointment.

The wine was correct but obviously meant to be tasted young. Lesson Learned.

  • I have been anticipating this wine since out extended stay in Paris last summer. We were the guests of Olivier Leflaive , for a day, where we started the day at his "table du Olilvier Leflaive" where we enjoyed a lunch prepared around the numerous white Burgundy wines of O. Leflaive. We have been in contact with his direct shipping agent to the US and we have had 3 cases of Grand Cru's shipped directly to our home.

Tonight we dined out with a first course of scallops followed up by a Halibut and chicken prepared to allow the best of this wine to show through and I brought my own Reidel Montrachet glasses to more fully experience this wine.

The nose was almost too much to take in; white flowers, citrus, grapfruit, nuts/almonds, white cherries, minerals and stone (?),apples and slight pears a little oak and smoke; on the palate this wine is balanced and lush with all these flavors comming and going as the temp. went up with a lavish and lush profile of flavors comming through that at times were too numerous to place; the finish was so so long.

After a wine like this it will make it very difficult to enjoy another "white" as the complexity was extrordiany!
