  • Retail $75. Responsible Bottle (564g; 1lb 3.9oz). 100% Chardonnay. There was a time when a 1er Cru Saint-Aubin could be had for under thirty bucks. And it was not all that long ago; Saint-Aubin was the remedy for the absurd prices being fetched for Chassagne, Puligny, and Meursault. Not any more. Saint-Aubin has also skyrocketed in recent years but I was able to pick this up at a wine store in Beaune in 2017 for about thirty-five bucks. Yellow, almost golden in the glass but with no signs of oxidation, the fruit on the nose is close to glorious (a lovely lemon curd) with additional notes of hazelnut, vanilla, and oak. The palate *is* glorious with fantastic fruit, an intense tartness, and a lengthy finish. Fantastic. 93 Points.

  • Moderate acidity. Pale golden yellow. A hint of minerality. Lemongrass and sour apple. A pleasant wine which is drinking well.
