90 minute decant, 60 F. Opaque ruby color, just starting to edge towards garnet. A fair amount of fine sediment. Big nose of smoke, earthy mint and cherry fruit. Prominent ragged tannins, lively acidity and a touch of heat. Prominent cherry and blackberry fruit on the palate, aged raw meat, spicy white pepper and dried leather notes on the palate. A wine with so much potential, but it just hasn't come together yet. A top round steak in a world of ribeyes. Long, lingering finish.
