Similar to the last tasting note, but maybe showed just a little better, little more complexity, nicely balanced and a ripe sweet but still dry finish. Delicious and long.

Decent value, not overly distinctive or interesting, but well balanced with nice ripe (maybe a tinge overripe) fruit. Sryah weight without the pepper - more dark berry and dark cherry, decent cherry acidity on the finish. Will be interested to see if the other half is better a night or so from now.

This was my 1st Portugal Douro, ever. Nice deep ruby-purple color with moderate legs. I decided not to decant, & I let it breathe in the bottle for an hour. Subtle nose of cherry, raisin, chocolate, and dusty earth. On tasting, the tannins had fully smoothed out, with weak acidity, but a firm structure. The palate presented cherry, red currant, vanilla, with the smallest hints of raspberry, date & chocolate, on top of a faintly dusty earth base. Spice box appeared near the back-end and introduced the medium-lasting finish. I think this wine is at its peak, still retaining its fruit in an elegant way. A good wine with a great value. Already being familiar with good Port, I'm looking forward to learning more about Portugal wines.

Decanted for about 45 minutes before drinking. Aromas of raspberry, blueberry, flowers, pepper and touch of earth. Nose is very distinctive on these Portuguese reds with Touriga Nacional in them. This is very fruit forward but in a old world style. No hard edges, it has flavors of raspberry, blackberry, chocolate, date and a unique minerality to it. Finishes decent but could understand someone wanting a little more length. For $15 can you really complain though? An outstanding value for the money for such an inexpensive wine. I think some people may be turned off to this because it is really out of left field (along with the other Portuguese reds) but these really are distinctive, well made wines.

Old world style. Dry with plenty of fruit. You can taste every bit of the 14.5%. For as much as everyone raves about 2011 Douro - even table wines, I'm 0 for 2. Guess I'll stick with the port alone for now
