Quite dark in colour. Bright and fresh up front, with cedar and white pepper. There's a little chocolate and some sweet spice although there is a savory element too. Plenty of fine tannin on a long finish. Feels like it has a lot left in the tank.

{screwcap, 14.5%} Darka nd briary nose; malty chocolate, blackberries. It's only on the fairly youthful palate that a hint of dark olive green emerges; not lack of ripeness, just a greenish character. It's green like an old Bentley; there's no shortage of power, nor a lot of nuance. The are medium, finely gritty tannins, not too much oak, and a drying, somewhat blocky and astringent, medium-length finish. Medium/full-bodied wine, just lacks a little charm. Maybe time will help; there's another decade's aging left in this easily, so no rush.

As with the cabernet, this is a wine of great power and finesse. The plumb and dark cherry fruit are fresh and ripe and sit atop a dark mocha chocolate backdrop. Secondary complexity comes in the form of old leather and cured meats. These combine seamlessly with plush velvety tannins to deliver a rich and intoxicating mouthfeel. A touch of spearmint on the long finish rounds things out, making the wine taste almost like a desert experience. A terrific wine, but the cabernet takes the points by a whisker.

Blackberry, some sour cherry. Black herbaceousness - licorice without the sweetness - and vanilla.
The alcohol is a bit over-prominent, has a Ruby port character to it. Very enjoyable but a bit big and ripe for cool climate Shiraz.

A little inconsistent. Some pours are good, while some pours are boring. Seem to have potential. Will re-visit in another 2yrs.
