Wild blueberry, loam, some orange or even pineapple, this is probably a couple years past peak but still enjoyable, with pretty good acidity, but tannins soft. Not really a style that needs age, would like to try a more recent and fresher vintage. Had this with arrabbiata but it would probably go better with a creamier pasta, or something with oil and lemon... 5.5-6/10

Dinner at Barcelona Boston: Bierzo aged 7 months in oak barrels. Reticent dark fruits, med acidity and weight, elegant refined dark fruits with earthiness and a bit of complexity with slight bitterness on finish. Better than the unoaked mencia. Seems the subtle oak influence is beneficial though not overt and far from the modern fruit/oak bomb of some Bierzos.

Nice red fruits, balanced and fine, but somehow does not capture the imagination.
