N: Straws, some earth/minerals & notes of spice; Later, with air, vanilla
P: LM body; RNDISH entry with almost swtish frt met by bracing acidity with just a bit of astringency which pretty much maintains through the LONG, somewhat bitterswt finish with the emphasis ULT on the swtness. LOVELY for now & into '19! 90 pts Vinous
[Note: I init thought this was Gamay -- until I encountered an **obvious** Beauj 2 wines later. Then, in a "genius" move, I figured it MUST be Pinot because of that var's freq similarity to Gamay (at least when we're talking the inexpensive versions). Sadly, I DIDN'T retaste or even resniff it, or I MIGHT have gotten the vanilla, which I'd have associated with what I figured had to be a SP Tempranillo.]

N: Olives (grn, poss blk) slightly atop cherries with undertones of smoke & spice
P: LM, poss Med, body; NICE frt with balancing mid-P structure, this seamlessly extending through the LONG, very, VERY slightly astringent finish. A nicely balanced, ELEGANTLY styled (for the price), BEAUTIFULLY made wine perhaps to cellar for 6 mos, then drink through '19, poss longer. LOVELY stuff & QUITE the QPR! 90 pts Vinous (Raynolds). [As of early Mar '20, wine-searcher still shows 3 sources @ $12 & $15].

A decent BTG pour in a tumbler style glass, but by no means an outstanding or interesting wine with tapas at the otherwise delightful Tapateria restaurant. I just wanted to try a Ribera del Duero wine and this was, I certainly hope, a poor representation.

Dark fruit, bright acidity, peppery finish. Nice wine for the money.
