    -----------------------------------

  • Classic Cali cab. Nice wood, fruity and juicy notes. Cedar, cassis, eucalyptus.

  • The nose is muddled and comes off a tad bit hot, but does have a decent baked plum scent, mixed with wet stone and a faint pharmaceutical note. The palate has a noticeable acidity, but lacks a strong tanning presence, but what is there is on the round and soft end, so that is a plus. Flavours of plum, cinnamon and vannila, both of the latter coming from a half decent effort of not applying too much barrel to the fruit, something that I find far too many american producers cannot comprehend. This wine sits somewhere between an 87 and an 89, and at this time leans towards the lower. The lack of a refined bouquet and precise palate leave it on the south end of 90 without a question, but with all that said, at $20, I love this wine and find it a very refreshing american bottle.
