Nose with blackberry and a little bit of vanilla. Gives the impression of a "warm" wine with higher alcohol content (bottle says 13.5 % but it feels more) On the palate slightly unbalanced with higher than ideal acidity and gritty tannins. The alcohol makes the taste and finish slightly bitter. Not the best Clarke, for sure, but it was a difficult vintage. I have half a case left and will be drinking them soon so I can move on to another vintage of this wine which represents incredible value for money in most years.

UCGB tasting Bordeaux 2013 (Amsterdam): The bouquet is quite locked. On the palate juicy dark berries, some chocolate, vanilla, smoke and bell pepper. Ok acidity and sticky tannin. Light to medium bodied. Try around 2019.

Union Des Grands Crus de Bordeaux San Francisco. Blend of 60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. Black fruit, dust earth on the nose, more of the same on the palate, medium body of juicy fruit, tasty, needs a year to improve, medium finish. $22.
