Well, the good news is that this wine has aged beautifully and can age a bit more. The bad news is this is my last bottle. Still a nose with dark fruit and a bit of smoke. The palate gets stewed dark fruits, a hint of begonias, and a lasting licorice ending. Well made, good year, great winemaking.

Really enjoyed this wine. Bought it at the vineyard 9 years ago. Really smooth red and black fruit, good amount of layers to it. Silky tannins. Beautiful wine. Would seek these out again.

Tannins very silky at this stage, primary flavors tempered, very well balanced. Dark herbal thyme pine mineral notes more apparent. Feels close to peak for my taste but there may be more depth to come. No rush IMO. 4 hours of slow ox

Now I see why Peter Heitz, Turnbull’s winemaker, says he likes drinking his wines in their first five years. This one has lost a little since our prior bottle a couple years ago. Still good, but the dark fruit forward nature of it has receded somewhat. If you like your Napa cabs big and fruit forward, drink these now. If you like them in more of an old world style, go ahead and wait a few more years.

I really liked this wine. The taste and smell has an old world feel. It has changed since we sampled it at the vineyard. Hard to put a finger on the flavor - muted plum, prune, black cherry, blackberry, mixed with savory notes of tea and toast. A meal in itself. I can't faithfully describe it. But I know I like it. 93+
