(RIDGE PONZO VINEYARD ZINFANDEL) #2; COLOR-darker; NOSE-much more focused, black pepper, ripe fruit (raspberry & strawberry), earth tones; TASTE-nice fruit, little mushroom truffle aspect on mid-palate, little heat, little dark black raspberry, solid mid-palate, finishes really strong, good w/ a hearty meal, good structure, good candied fruit, but balanced w/ Old World flavors as well, like to see this in 7 years; RP-91; GV-90

Ridge just makes great wine. Why am I surprised this was just delish? Had a few that I kept for a while and this wine did not disapoint. It was ready to go, but could have easily gone another three year+

Gone with the wind. Almost tasteless (perfectly stored from release). Some fruit and balance after 2 hour decant, but was tempted to pour it out.

Tasty - plums and raisins primarily, with some baking spices and low but balanced acidity. This has aged reasonably well, but not having had it young I don't know whether the more oxidative notes were there early on.

Still holding beautifully, with fruit evident and a little tannic grip remaining. Not a huge, complex zin, but nicely balanced. Perfect with a homemade garlic and fresh tomato pizza.

Closed off a little at first but became more expressive with air. Great nose of hay / violet / raspberry / a touch of pepper and earth. Med bodied on the palate leading to a semi-long finish with great acidity / integrated tannins and some spice. probably a touch past its peak, bit still shining beautifully.
