  • Becoming a bit tired. Golden color. The nose has butter and mandarin orange notes. Fairly rich and maybe a bit flabby. Very different from previous bottles. If you have any of this, I would advise drinking soon. Not special tonight. (87)

  • This is rather good. The color jumps out as a true golden yellow - almost neon it’s so intense. Hay and melted butter come top of mind for the nose. Some yellow fruit in the background. The palate is rich, mature and a bit earthy (mushroom). Clearly Chardonnay yet not as layered as the best from the cote de Beaune. Lingers - great flavor purity. No window dressing. Drink now. I’m a fan. (91)

  • The Yquem dinner (Chicago, IL): There's no mistaking this for chardonnay. If served blind, I think I would have guessed chenin (which, come to think of it, is my catch-all for white wines I can't quite place). There's a little bit of earthy funk on the nose, but much more interesting is the palate, where you find tons of acidity, but it's not quite as linear as chardonnay can be. A bit of an oddball.

  • Fairly deep golden color that is followed by a fairly rich, honeychrisp character. Full bodied white burgundy with good finishing zip. A cold weather white burgundy. (91)
