  • Tasted at the Whitewater Valley Wine Society, Hampshire, UK. Tasting of sparkling wine presented by Robert Boutflower of Tanners Wine Merchants. Light fizz and aromas of apple, quince, fine herbs and light
spices whilst the palate had good acidity and a clean finish.

  • A blend of Auxerrois (50%) and Pinot Blanc (50%). The base wine is fermented and aged in large, old wooden casks. Aged in bottles for 12-15 months before disgorgement.

Consistent with my previous tasting note from January 2014: this is a rather simple and uninteresting Crémant lacking in character. The nose is pretty nice here, but the wine turns out to be rather simple, flabby and short on the palate with somewhat candied feel to it. Nothing of real interest.

  • Soft elegant bubbles, bone dry and crisp, baked aromas on the nose, citrus acidity, slightly tart, apricot notes, herbaceous and slight floral notes, notes of chalk lead to a long finish. Nice.

Pale green color. Quite rich and fruity nose with juicy white fruit aromas, some yellow apples and a hint of autolytic dough character. The wine is ripe, fruit-forward and round on the palate with soft mouthfeel, pretty mellow and short-lived mousse and fruity flavors of red apples, ripe citrus fruits, a little bit of candied gummi bear character and a hint of herbal greenness. Medium in acidity. The finish is soft and medium long with more tart than ripe apple notes, some piercing steely minerality, a little bit of almondy nuttiness and a hint of sweet lemon marmalade.

A very mediocre entry-level Crémant with very little of interest. There isn't much complexity to the wine and the dosage shows a bit too much, making the wine very round and easy crowdpleaser at the expense of structure. Not a particularly bad bubbly, only one without any persona. Meh.
