  • Medium gold color. Beautiful textbook white Burgundy nose of bright citrus fruit layered on top of rounder yellow fruit and savory leesinsss. Also some notes or fresh white flowers. On the palate, it’s medium to full bodied and surprisingly oily and low-acid. The fruit is mostly bruised apple and pear, not much of the bright citrus. Also not so much complexity. Overall, it falls flat, which is too bad considering the lovely nose. Perhaps it’s just past it at 7 years old for a humble Bourgogne.

  • Medium yellow. Toast and pear on the nose. Medium to full bodied, rich entry with strong fruit, then quinine quality on finish. Very good and interesting-sort of like a hybrid of Macon and Chablis.

  • I've been quiet for awhile and thought I might (re)start taking notes again. This is a result from having dinner with a friend last Sat (TL) who expressed interest in my thoughts. His kindness struck a chord, so if you bear with me, I shall begin without backstory on my absence.

While I live in Oakland, 2 blocks from the Berkeley border to be exact, driving to North Berkeley can be a pain. This is a result of the city blocking off streets to through traffic, creating quiet, walkable neighborhoods, but if you are trying to drive across town, the main arterial routes are congested and slow. Driving to Cedar Street can take me 15-30 minutes depending on traffic and the freeway can be worse. So this is my reason for not visiting Kermit Lynch's retail store more often.

When I was there I picked up 4 different white burgs from his offerings as immediate summer drinkers as well as a bottle of mustard which my wife enjoys.

You are probably wondering right now why I am such a gas bag with all this verbiage and the truth is that the bottle has been in the refrigerator (day 2) and I want the wine to warm up before writing any descriptors.

Served somewhat chilled. Citrus acid attack on the entry with lemon and predominate lime notes; light to medium weight in body; ends with a dry refreshing acid lime finish. Yesterday I thought the finish was short but it seems to have lengthened after 24 hours. The last glass showed some sediment which was surprising (well not too surprising reading about Kermit's dictates) but it was a minor issue which can be overlooked. An enjoyable wine. Good to Very Good.
