  • When I first poured into the decanter, the nose was a little medicinal, and certainly not Pinot like. Fortunately, most, but not all of the funky stuff dissipated in a few minutes. This is probably the best Mondavi Private Selection Pinot I have ever tasted. It is bright, fruity, juicy and tasty. The addition of 14% Syrah, and 3.5% Petit Sirah really contribute to the flavors, mouth feel and enjoyment. Solid and expressive cherry pie, plum, blueberry and boysenberry flavors from lips to finish. Some distinct Pinot like flavors of brown spice, molasses, cloves and the barnyard. Rounded, soft and approachable. You can tell there is 13.5% alcohol. Blueberry and vanilla on the finish.
