As my collection of aged Bordeaux diminishes, I long for these reasonably price that have so much to offer the serious wine drinker. Pencil, dark currents, leather and a sweet, spicy finish that yells yum.
Don't know when or where I bought this bottle. It's been in the cellar a long time. Worth 4 times as much in sheer drinking pleasure.

Decanted one hour. Dark ruby, browning on edges. Fast legs. Some fine-grained tannins left in the bottle. Aromas of dark fruit (sweet but not jammy), leafy (mint/eucalyptus), toasted oak. Flavours of oak, smoky burnt toast, blackcurrant. M body, M acidity, XD, M tannin. Long finish. Surprisingly green for such a warm vintage; oak a little too prominent. Drink or hold.

4 years in the cellar was good for this left bank Bordeaux. The tannins have softened and the fruit is well-integrated. On the nose,- cedar, and pencil shavings. On the tongue - black fruits (cherry, blackberry, cassis), with herbal notes and black pepper. Dry and savoury. Nicely balanced with a long finish. Paired wonderfully with a salt and pepper crusted Magret de Canard.

Cherry, currant, tobacco, vanilla, withered wood and olive nose. Complex, elegant and well-balanced with a woodsy, earthy mineral finish.
5/5
