  • PnP and let sit for 15-20 minutes before sampling. Color is transparent, ruby red maybe with a slight touch of orange at the edge. Aromas of dark cherry, a touch of eucalyptus or menthol, some savory notes, a bit of volatile blowoff. On the palate flavors of red cherry, fine tannin, a bit of warmth and a neutral to slightly mouthwatering finish. The wine is quite delicious with and after dinner of grilled pork, risotto and roasted mushrooms, goat cheese and Brussels sprouts.

  • Browned red, 65% transparent. Nose has morello cherry, chestnut, cranberry, cola, cooked apricot jam, orange peel, white truffle, blood/penny. Alcohol is light and enhances the light, silkiness of the wine. Palate is light, deftly coating the tongue with composed, strength of flavors: caramel, morello cherries, cool berries. This is far more accessible and a better vintage than the 2007 we had 2 years ago.

Great on its own but delightful with food. The wine cuts the acidity of foods and tones it down. It accentuates salt and herb flavors that aren't readily detected in the food.

  • Tasted blind. Dark garnet color turning tawny crimson at the rim with a reflective edge. The nose gives off smoky notes of dark berries, espresso and dried herbs. The palate is medium-to-full-bodied with vibrant acidity that carries the plum, raspberry and dark cherry with secondary notes of tobacco, leather, terracotta pots, rusted pipes, and cola on the toasted oak. Finishes long and grippy with a persistent mentholated feel. Drink now until 2035.

  • Popped, breathed in bottle 90 minutes, consumed over next two hours. Started nicely and continued to improve until final sips. Fleshy, but well balanced, already showing some tertiary notes, packed for further aging.

  • v promising first bottle of my 6- looks older than it is drinking - almost sour on first sip but softened nicely after 2 hr decant and retained nice acidity - dark fruits, earth, starting to reflect some secondary notes, but all good - drinking v. well, probably improves
