≈90 min decant into a plastic, cylindrical pitcher; NO visible sediment; Private Preserve after Day 1
100% C.S. aged a total of 22 mos in FR oak barrels (39% new); 15.45% ABV, 0.55 g /100 ml T.A., & 3.90 pH;
N: CLOSED; Sensing red beets (?) atop notes of cherry cola with undertones of smoke & probably pyrazines, POSS some leather?
P: Med body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which stays in contact with the init frt as it seamlessly evolves into a very LONG, BALANCED finish with an intriguing tangy/swtness & an attractive note of bitter/swt choc to the UNOFFENSIVELY firming, dusty tannins. Drinking @ or near its peak, this should continue through '23, quite likely '24, & the fairly hefty ABV is not @ all evident. My EXC, + I could readily "see" EXC+ for QPR *if* one was able to purchase it discounted "back in the day". 90 pts (2x) winealign.com, 89 WA & RJonWine.com , 88 WS, 87 WE @ $40, and Silver @ ’15 S.F. Chronicle. // Day 4: Held on surprisingly well, & still without having any sense of elevated ABV to destroy its balance. :) [As of mid May '20, wine-searcher still shows 1 source @ $56].

On opening this had a sharp acidic component which disappeared after about ten minutes of air. What remained was a nicely integrated cab, not complex but correct for type and engaging. Decent length to the finish, and a nice match for a rare New York strip.

Fairly standard Napa Cab, in the drinking window now. Good QPR.
