Superb bottle of Santenay. Great colour - surprisingly dark red, perfect condition. Lovely nose of black cherries with a touch of smoke and sous bois. Surprisingly masculine palate with leather and violets. Long warm finish. A complex and well made wine. Caroline Morey makes the reds Pierre Yves makes the whites. Great team. Super wine altogether from someone who is famed for his top quality whites

First btl in almost 5 years. Pop and pour. Notes from 2 hrs open. Some reduction and evident oak. Good red fruit on the nose. On the palate: a touch hard and acidic. Funky reduction shines through and a touch thin. Rather disjointed.

Tidied this up with pheasant pate, rabbit and pork terrine and duck breast...it paired best with the latter two being a touch to rough and ready for the Pheasant pate (which was quite lightweight) - Red berries, touch of struck match, bit of leather and gameyness as well, textured mid palate. Perfectly pleasant.

Old vines. Reduction. Old vines post climate change. Classic hand of colin-morey. Wish I had more. Thankful.

All complexity of earth and ancient vines. Completely unique wine with almost no fruit. Super wise and telling of a deep and old tale.
