  • At twenty-one years, the fill level, label (slightly stained and soiled), foil, and most importantly the cork were all still in ideal condition.

    Paired wonderfully with beef bourgogne.

While still very much in its drinking window, this was showing some diminution from age with the vibrant fruits just starting to give way to non-fruit flavors of earth and wood.

Dark garnet colored, medium full bodied, full round plum, black cherry and black currant fruits with notes of cassis, cedar, spice and toasted oak with a hint of dark mocha chocolate, on a moderate firm tannins finish.

  • Let me start by saying that I love old wine and tend to score them higher. I love thier unique flavors (aged at that) and special un-findable flavors in any other food source. These are special in that they are not rancid, otherwise muted or undesirable as notes allude to but rather aspirational in wine terms for aging wine. Therefore I see otherwise.

This wine is wonderful. It has muted blueberry notes, some cherry kirsch and of course that ever present flavor of aged wine ....... dried fruit. Find some and enjoy. Ready now.

  • This ended up being a nice surprise. Drinks like a well aged left bank Bordeaux after all these years. Many complex flavors have developed but the licorice, berries, spice, and smooth tannins made this wine memorable. Just sorry this is the last one in the cellar. I think it would still develop over the next year or two. So I disagree with the suggested drinking window for this one. As long as it is aged properly, I believe it has some staying power.

  • A bit of a faded star, but still quite drinkable with dinner. Drink up.

  • Still vibrant medium body, good fruit, smooth tannins. Probably not going to improve.
