Community Tasting Notes (5) Median Score: 89 points

  • I was surprised by the variance in the other tasting notes. This wine was more complex for a young Cab 2012. Maybe the addition of a little Petit Verdot had a good influence. . The nose had some dark fruit and leather undertones. Allowing it to breathe in the bottle for about 30 minutes and in the glass for another 10 gave this otherwise ordinary table wine a long almost floral finish. Went well with beef tenderloin and veggies. Picked up a couple of bottles and will try it out in a blind taste against something highly rated (such as a Pine Ridge cab).

  • Good nose. Sharp. Tangy. Not good

  • Tasted blind. Clear medium (+) ruby with some purple hues. The nose is clean, with some ripe, candied black fruit which is overpowered by vanilla, baking spice and wood. The palate has a lot of residual sugar, resulting in a fairly jammy wine. The acidity and tannins are medium and the alcohol is medium (+). This wine is really not my style, as the excessive oak treatment results in a wood veneer being applied to the overly ripe fruit. Drink now, as it is not going to improve with age due to its lack of structure. Still, it won a Double Gold at the 2015 Houston Uncorked International Wine competition, so it must have had a lot going for it last year.

  • Drank pre dinner with most of the family and it was very well received. Fruity and chi alter, full flavored.

  • It smells like blackberry, flint, sherry, stoniness, alcohol/hot, mineral and hay/straw. It tastes like flint, sherry and stoniness. too much tannins (many tannins?), bitter, chalky, acidic – really disappointed as it was pricey for my budget. I like a jammier, less tannic, more full Cabernet.
