  • Better than expected.

    High shoulder fill.
Restaurant broke the cork and had to filter through cheese cloth.
Deep tawny color, fine sediment in the wine. Some settled on the inside of the bottle.
    Smell of intense blueberry

Initial taste, fresh cranberry, sour cherry, a little sour.

After two hours in decanter, wine opens up, very smooth, gentle with cranberry, cherry, apple, cinnamon. No oak or bitterness on the back to speak of. Middle of apple cider, continues to the back with lingering cherry.

After 24 hours, similar to after two hours, but a little more refined and gentle.

    Surprised how good it was.

  • Snagged this $75 pig in a poke (Robert Parker, Jancis Robinson), and rewarded as this particular bottle, whatever it was like in its youth, opened up two hours after working out crumbling cork and decanting with wine sieve, into an elegant, aristocratic gem. Evolved remarkably in the two hours, and needed that. Pale tawny. Seemed woody, acidic and astringent at first, but cranberry, red plum and sour cherry notes emerged as tannins resolved, with slight acidity remaining.
