  • Layered, developed nose. Core of smoky black cherry. Wafts of black tea, sage and forest floor. Incredibly refined and elegant on the medium bodied palate with vibrant acidity and fine tannins. Lovely savoury finish. In a perfect spot to drink now but no rush.

    WSET Notes:

    Pale garnet.

Pronounced on the nose with black cherry, earth, clove, smoke, meat, leather, tobacco, sage, black tea, forest floor. Fully developed.

Pronounced and dry on the palate. Medium body, high acidity, medium tannins, medium alcohol, long finish.

Can drink now but has potential for aging.

  • Final bottle of 3 purchased on release. Last consumed a bottle about 3 yrs ago.
At 11 yrs of bottle age, this wine is briary (100% whole cluster), with notes of cola, cinnamon, mint, tart cherries, rosemary, and rhubarb.
The tannins are finely grained and resolving (there was no new oak used in the elevage), while the acidity is front and center, ushering in tart red fruit and spiciness.
This wine is gorgeous, just a lovely rendition of a Sta Rita Hills PN, worth the $70 cost of admission. Drink through 2025 or so, bravo.

  • This had that distinctive herbal menthol notes that are very particular for this producer which I like. Lifted aromas of cassis and cherries. Nice acidity and medium + length
