Beautifully aromatic with stems, red fruits and flowers. Weightless power with excellent transperency. By far the best Groffier I had come across many cuvees and vintages. 94+

Medium ruby with slight bricking. Beautiful Burgundy nose showing cranberries & wild berries, red florals, spice, underbrush and game. Light-medium bodied palate shows very silky and perfumed crushed red berries, hint of savory game, good acidity and a decent finish redolent of spice and florals. There is no hint of green meanies/pyrazine in this 2004. Nice.

Recognizably Clos-de-Bèze with cool climate red fruits, smooth texture, good concentration, tannins resolved, perhaps just a touch of muskiness (a characteristic of Clos-de-Bèze). No oak showing. Medium-weight, still good acidity. No hint of pyrazines (I'm not terribly sensitive, but I can sometimes pick them up). Frankly, if someone unmasked the bottle and it said Cazetiers, I would not be surprised. A good wine, on the level of Clair and Jadot C-CdB, a step or two below Faiveley, and several below Rousseau. No rush to drink. Cellared since original release.
Add on tasting the next day: the additional aeration has significantly improved this wine, giving it more finesse and integration, somewhat darkening the fruit, adding salinity, and overall strengthening the CCdB profile. A very good effort for this vintage.
