The cork was saturated throughout. On extraction, the wine didn't look horribly oxidized, it was a bit orange at the rim as one expects for the age. There was still some fruit there, discernible beneath the brett, volatile acidity and the TCA that eventually emerged. There were probably other flaws too, these were the that slapped a rank amateur in the face.

Fruity, heavy, oaky. Was this pinot or an overoaked california something. My wife and I were not impressed. Not showing pinot at all. My wife's edict after this bottle "Go get something french, and not too figgy."

Very ripe fruits, rich fruits, heavy handed oak, earth and spices. Does not taste bad (pretty ok and the finish was quite long actually), but just not what I am looking for in a Burg. Lacks finesse and balance. Overall a clumsy and overweight pinot. Is it 2003 or is it Laurent? Perhaps a little of both I guess.
