  • Needs at least 2 hours to decant, maybe 3 (this was from a magnum). I double decanted the entire magnum, drank about half the first night and the other half during the next night. This wine needs time to come together, it's still quite young and, honestly, it's too soon to open it. But I did. And wow, it's delicious: oak, cherries, baking spices, and secondary herbal notes work together nicely.

  • From magnum #20 of 24. Decanted about 40% of the magnum into a magnum-sized decanter. Quite an experience to taste this wine from a magnum as it opens up. The first hour is restrained yet accessible: red plum, light on the palate. As the second hour starts, there's a lot more going on: Mild barnyard funk emerges as a secondary element, but the primary focus is red fruit with cooling yet sharp acidity and a meaty quality that is appealing and intimidating. It feels like this wine still needs more time to open up after the first hour. Lots of fun, a rewarding Pinot Noir!

  • Takes about an hour to open up right now, and then it evolves slowly in the decanter. Wonderful wine, definitely the pinnacle of Prive's offerings. Red and black cherries, light vanilla notes, well rounded and complex palate...terrific.
