Interesting blend. I had never tasted a carmenere before so didn't know what to expect. It started with an earthy taste but had a fruity finish. Improved as it sat there for 30 or 40 minutes. I would definitely buy again.

Dark purple-red in the glass, on the pop-and-pour the nose was just awful, dominated by an overt rubberiness that completely overrode what fruit and spice was also there. After some time, the rubberiness wears off a bit, but is replaced by a funky hay-in-the-barn smell that is still pretty undesirable. The rubber influences are back on the palate, even after an hour of swirling, and the fruit is hard to find. The tannins are pretty harsh and grainy on the mid-palate, and the finish is marred by a bitterness that lingers with some alcoholic kick. I very seldom score a wine under 80, but this one manages to get there. Fortunately, it is inexpensive, so the remainder of this one (and all of the next - sadly I received two) will find it's way into a braise of some kind. At least it isn't so awful that I fear to cook with it.

Nice fruit, great aroma, full body and nice finish. Everyone liked it, better as it sits for awhile. Will definitely buy again
