Rich on the nose and a bit steely. This is a somewhat thin wine without much character. Dry finish, especially given the lack of depth. The fruit has some nice flavors, just a bit underwhelming. I doubt this gets better with further age and is probably starting its descent.

Merlot-based wines and Sauvignon Blanc at Lola (Lola, Dallas): Blind Red 1 - Deep color with translucent edges. Ripe dark fruit nose with a touch of cocoa. Medium-full bodied and rather open dark cherry fruit with some late bark. Tasty. Thought this was a '98 right bank. Apparently 60% Merlot. The wine is labeled "Ugum" as well.

One of the finest Italian blend I have ever experienced. True to form with a Robert Chadderdon wine, Iugum is exquisite. Big on the start, but it quickly silks out on the palet making it almost one with your mouth and the wine. Extremely delicate, but strong in flavor and strength. Wild notes of berry, while holding on to the darker notes of forest floor and chocolate so prevalent in Italian style.

Needs decanting. Still ageing potential. Nice tannins and chewy.
