  • Medium to full body Brunello. Dried cherry, oregano, and cedar. Good balance in this one with the acidity a bit down compared to other brunellos I have had which doesn’t demerit this wine at all. Didn’t need time to decant and enjoyed right away. Very concentrated wine with no real orange tint even with the 12+ years of age. In it’s prime window right now and probably has 3-5 more years at its peak.

  • A tasty, nuanced Brunello. Wood accent is noticeable, particularly on day 2, touch of walnut. One of few recent instances where this oak accent enhanced the overall taste. The wine is fresh and balanced; no hint here of stewed, jam-like fruit -- in fact wanted it a bit sweeter in the finish. Nice balance, acidity, deft flavoring. A Lovely effort.

  • Black and red cherry, a good amount of spices and an earthy quality on the nose. Between medium and full bodied (15% ABV) with rounded black cherry upfront and the more depth through the middle. Hints of black raspberry and red cherry in the back, but mostly still black cherry. Spices, strong acidity and tannins provide the structure and contrast on the backside. Like the 2010 La Colombina from last night, this actually seems still on the young side. Given the high ABV and modern style are these taking more time to come around? I essentially waited 11 years to start drinking 2010 brunello and maybe should've waited just a bit more. After almost 5 hours open, the structural qualities are still intense, but slightly more so than the La Colombina, this wine felt like with a bit more time, it could come into better balance. I might hold these for at least another year or so to give the various elements the needed time to come together.

  • I'd be confused about this wine if I didn't know it was a Brunello. Very light-bodied - almost in the style of a pinot but with the flavors of a Sangiovese. A lot of tea color in the meniscus and the fruit flavors of cherry are somewhat dried at this point. It has good acidity, but lacks the power of a top Brunello. At the same time, it's an enjoyable wine - just not a typical Brunello.

  • Medium body, moderate acidity with balance throughout. Dried red berry and floral accents, smooth feel. Drink now or over the next few years.
