Perhaps little bit past its best as we would say in the WSET, I would have liked to have tried Château Musar's Jeune Rosé 2013 on release (which left me wondering why, exactly, I'd held on to the bottle for so long). Aromatics were very subdued on opening, but after some time pie cherry and, interestingly, an overarching not of kaolin clay. It's medium bodied, and rhubarb red in hue with moderate acidity. We drank this in honor of Serge Hochar.

Wanted to like this, just because it's Musar, and not sorry I bought it, given the audience of other wine geeks and its curiosity factor. That being said, not going to buy again: there was an off-quality to the wine -- as if it had been slightly cooked or slightly oxidized somehow. Maybe that's what this grape, whatever it is, it supposed to taste like. Who knows. Lingering, unpleasant finish. Lanolin qualities on the mouthfeel. The more I considered the wine the less I liked it. A wine to drink once to say you've had it.

Mildly glowing red-pink. Smells like sugared raspberries and peaches, almost like a wine cooler. It is mildly sweet, but nowhere near as sweet as the nose would make you suspect. Strong minerality, with rose petals and raspberry. Really good rose, the best in my limited experience, with the structure and depth of a quality Burgundy. Most surprising.

(Chateau Musar Musar Jeune Rosé) Light medium orange color with pale meniscus; aromatic, cantaloupe cream, golden raspberry, bing cherry nose; rich, complex, cantaloupe cream, golden raspberry, bing cherry, mineral, lanolin palate with some acidity; medium-plus finish
