This wine is the full package, even the bottle is heavy! The wine is dark and dsrk fruit and oaky, notes. High alcohol (15.3%) without the burning sensations that alcoholic wines often have. Let it breathe a bit after opening and the fruity notes are there - red berries and plum. Soft tannins and long after taste. It goes against the current fashion of more stringent wines, but it is really a lovely wine and perfect for winter drinking (I live in Norway).

Decanted briefly. Cancelled my subscription to Wine Spectator since they have about as much credibility as Donald Trump. Unless a wine is cloying and highly acidic, forget about an objective review. Parker on the other hand, there's my guy. Too bad he has essentially retired. Gerhard Reisacher is perhaps one of the most gifted winemakers in the business today. He does not garner all the hype and attention some others receive, but those of us who understand his wine making style, have much to appreciate and enjoy. The 2011 Julia is no exception. Dark, dense and elegant with low acidity and gripping tannins. My palate is in overload. Absolutely stunning! Oh, by the way, who said 2011 was a bad year?

Birthday dinner with friends at Yoon Haewoondae. Good wine to pair with dry aged ribeye steaks but not as good as other vintages.

Very complex and developing in the glass. Too many notes 😅 to list. Spectacular 😊
