Picked this 2012 Monopole with some trepidation at a small Lexington Ave. wine merchant near 27th St and paid $22.95. Know and respect Faiveley, but had not tasted this bottling before.
Light red tint, with subtle brownish hues at the edge; but no barnyard or sous-bois yet, if ever.
Roasted red fruits on the nose and mild spiciness/pepper.
Still a good entry level red Burgundy in the more affordable end of the price range.
Lovely at 7-8 years, definitely red/yellow cherry flavors, but not intense, typical for vintage and appellation it seems to me. Lacks acidity, bold structure, however mild tannins on finish are pleasant.

"good" bottle of wine. Not a typical Burgundian flavor profile at all. Very bright fruit (strawberry/ cherry) with decent acid but a bit out of balance

Fun fact: "rond" means "bramble." Nose: purple fruit, canned pineapple, dead leaves. Palate: not as much character as the nose suggests. Subtle. Light strawberry. Ok, but not the best in today's tasting lineup.

Better than it was a year ago. Good, but not really distinctive.

Some decent strawberry earthy elements but just super "lean and mean", tough love...
