  • European on entry with grassy, bitter notes but finished with tangerine, lemon and slate notes.

  • Baptizing the glasses for our Turley evening to celebrate H's birthday. Not much to like or dislike here. Tasted blind, this could have been mistaken for a generic Pinot Gris. Not much depth, nor the hay, grass or minerals we seek in our Sauv. Blancs. Serving at cellar temperature (as opposed to out of the fridge) helps. I'm guessing this came from very young vines whose roots haven't yet tapped into the motherlode to provide more character. ( = Pass)

  • Pleasant wine but lacks acidity and depth. Decent SB fruit up front. Looking for some real improvements with future vintages.

  • CITRUS, PEACHES, NECTARINES, APPLES, AND PEARS IN THE NOSE AND FLAVOR. MEDIUM TO LONG FINISH.

  • Although Turley produced a Sauvignon Blanc from their estate vineyard back in 1993, those vines were replaced with Zinfandel shortly thereafter. Almost two decades later, Turley decided to replant a small section of the estate to dry-farmed, head-trained Sauvignon Blanc from heritage Napa Valley budwood. This is their inaugural vintage from those replanted vines. Light yellow/gold in color, it offers an attractive nose of citrus peel, white flowers, wet stones and coriander. Light-bodied and with low-to-medium acidity, it delivers flavors mirroring the nose and has nicely integrated alcohol (listed as 13.1%). Unfortunately, the wine's lack of acidity is matched by its lack of mid-palate density and its truncated finish. I suspect that these vines will ultimately produce superb Sauvignon Blanc, but for now, they are not ready for "prime time." Drink now-2016.
