Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • decanted 2 hours prior to serving

bright young red color, joyous nose of punchy cherry fruit, cinnamon, nutmeg, on the palate a wonderment, massive and grand in scale, expansive and regal, and yet the fruit itself remains so very endearing- even charming, marvelously detailed with layers of spice already showing, strawberry note with time, still developing and not fully out there yet- but already it is evident this is a truly magical vintage for what is already one of the finest wines in the Drouhin line-up, they are a little different stylistically but from a qualitative perspective this is on equal footing with the other great Grands-Echezeaux- that of the Domaine de la Romanee-Conti, despite this evening's impressive showing I would wait 5 years or so to open another as it needs a bit more time to fully unfurl.
