had a bottle of this a couple years ago that maybe showed a bit of damage, this (different source) was really much better, a very fine showing for a not so acclaimed vintage. Cherries, rose petals, leather. Good acidity, fragrant, long. Easily my WOTN A-/B+

Purchased from WineBid. Seepage under the capsule; streaked and partially soaked cork. Sound familiar? Given the proximity, i suppose DaleW's and my bottle are from the same seller. Anyway - the wine is an aged hue of ruby-garnet, turning a watery orange at the rim. Nose of cooked cherries, saddle leather, asian spice, and some tantalizing secondary perfume. Some sweet and sour cherry fruit and spice rack on the palate, but it's diffuse and watery. There's some unripe, slightly bitter tannin at the very back of the palate. The advanced color and aromas, watery palate and lack of focus leads me to believe this is heat-damaged; the leakage and cork condition seem to confirm that.

Maybe 93. Unlike last bottle, this one was excellent.
