  • Whenever Bedrock wines hit the 'sweet spot' that only comes with the age that these bottles deserve, the fruit from the old vines integrate with the oak and the combination with Morgan's winemaking creates a 'dusty' mouthfeel that makes you smile and reminds you why you hold onto these wines so long. This is smack-dab in the zone and has a slightly more savory component due to the grapes. Well done fellas!

  • Decanted for 2 hours. Not the most detailed TN as I was cooking dinner.

Nose is full of decomposing leaves, blueberries, black olive skins, umami, and a bit of leather. Medium heavy bodied, spot on acidity, and full of flavor. Palate starts off with dark blue fruits, then a bit of decomposing leaves develop with the barrel spices. Still some grippy tannins exist. The finish goes on for a long time with the spices and never lets go.

For me, I feel like this needed to be consumed a few years earlier. Still very tasty and drinking in a great spot.

  • Deep ruby-purple hue, aromas of birch, blueberry, dark fruits, oak, perfume. Ripe strawberry, blueberry, plum, black peppercorn, garrigue and leather. Some underlying meaty tones. Fine resolved tannin, well integrated and soft supporting acidic balance. Structured, well made, delicious, and at a perfect age I think.

  • Really interesting nose of incense, cologne, fresh tree bark, damp earth, blue fruits, freshly crushed spices. The palate is dark, with spicy berries, a hint of a musky cologne in the mid palate and while there’s subtle tertiary notes, I think there’s a lot of life left here. Texturally there’s high tannins that aren’t quite ripe, but also aren’t astringent — you’ll feel them without being abrasive on the palate. Med+ acidity keeps everything in check here.

Overall it’s a wine with a lot of interest and expressiveness — it’s not super seamless or elegant, but it’s got a rustic quality with a ton of specificity. Very good.

  • PnP. This wine started out a little weird, with some corky-like funk and hidden fruit. Uh oh. But yeah, you can never doubt Morgan and the Bedrock gang, because this wine came fighting back after 10 minutes in the glass, like a phoenix from the ashes. Integrated fruit, silky mouthfeel, long finish. Damn good wine and it’s hitting its stride. Well done.
