Incredible. Chilled for about 1 hour prior to serving, then tasted over the course of 3 hours. Pours a beautiful yellow-gold. Powerful nose of yellow orchard fruit, citrus pith, brioche, and freshly roasted almonds. Hints of oak meander throughout, lending definition to the pure flavors. The palate seems to be showing exactly what aged Chardonnay should; Ripe fruit and spices, penetrating minerality, brioche, roasted nuts, all bound together by fully integrated acidity. Drinking this wine was a special experience.

Remarkable aged Chardonnay. Viscous, with high tones and complexity. Not quite what I would look for in an aged Chardonnay, lacking the rounded depth that I might expect. But a remarkable Oregon version.

The Eyrie Vineyards Fiftieth Anniversary Tasting (Portland Art Museum): The nose shows lots of depth and invites contemplation. Scents of lemon and herbs are very deep and thoroughly enjoyable while a faint buttery note rounds them out. Delicate and complex yellow apple flavors show when tasted, appearing early and lasting long. The wine shows some good mineral character on the mid palate. The acidity has great apple character, and it keeps the wine delicate and friendly. This is a refreshing treat!

Eyrie Vineyards 50th Anniversary Vertical Tasting (Portland Art Museum): Light golden yellow. Long legs. Clean, balanced, medium body. Very nice wine. Not acting its age...
Picked 10/9; Brix 21.0; pH 3.44
