  • The acidity and tannins were perfect, the flavors of blackberries, cassis, chocolate with slight earthy tones make this a typical California cabernet. Allowed about an hour or so to decant and air. This full body wine was very nice, the reason for the less than perfect score is because the "fruit flavors" and aromas have started to fade a little. Still, the wine is drinking very well now and I would recommend drinking sooner than later!

  • Delivers on every level: lifted aromatics of blackberry, cassis, eucalyptus, “Rutherford Dust”; full-flavored palate of black fruit, chocolate, mint and pleasant tannic backbone; finish that is round and elegant with plenty of fruit. Has Heidi Barrett's 1-2-3. Only a few bottles left at my neighborhood warehouse store - headed out for more tomorrow!

  • This 2012 Les Petit Morlet is in its prime drinking window.

Pop and poured tonight at room temp.

    Visuals:
No bricking, light red on the rim and gradients into a luscious deep crimson red in the glass.

    Aroma:
Intoxicating smells of mint, eucalyptus, violets and slight petroleum off-scent that blew off after a few minutes in the glass. Hints of blackberries then the tertiary aromas kicked in of toasted marshmallow and hazelnut.

    Taste:
On the attack - smoothly integrated tannin from aging, luscious mouth feel and rounded edges on the sides of the mouth. medium+ body and 7+ second finish.

Last words: Elegant texture and just a very enjoyable wine right now. DRINK NOW!

  • PnP...love @ first sight. dark color, lots of dry fruit, evolved beautifully over 2-3 hours. Will try again in a year.

  • Ok. So. This wine is still on the way up. More red than black fruit here. Nose here seems quite a bit darker than the palate. Entry is young, sweet red licorice and underripe black cherry. Bit of acidity on the finish. Wine was a bit youthful but IMO this "Petit" Morlet should be called "Le Waaay Petit Morlet." Little more medium bodied than expected. QPR a bit poor here. Drink now. Better yet, sell it off.
