Heavily-extracted, this Syrah is an infant in every sense of the word. Opaque crimson in color, it is a full-bodied bruiser that is loaded with dark bramble fruits, black cherries, mulling spices, bittersweet chocolate, smoke and savory herbs. Despite its ripeness, there is excellent structure here. The wine is incredibly fresh and the plentiful tannins are fine-grained. Although listed as 15.5%, the alcohol does not throw much heat as long as the wine is served at 60-65°F. The same can be said for the integration of the wood. Dense on the mid-palate and long but still a bit coarse on the back end, this is a "big boy" that will require lots of cellar time in order to fully flesh out. Sadly, this was my only bottle. If I had another, I would not touch it for several more years. This particular bottle was unscrewed, decanted and enjoyed over the ensuing three hours, during which time it continued to evolve. Give it lots of air if you desire to consume it at this young age. Drink 2027-2037.

Black fruits, raisin, licorice and vanilla, the tannins are massive and mouth coating. Makes it hard to drink at this point, not sure when it will if ever come into balance. I’d hold another 3 years min.

Thick wine here with blackberry and black cherry fruit up front. Core of black licorice, tobacco, earth, and bitter dark chocolate. Still has some firm tannins, medium finish.

Drank over 3 nights and just blossomed in the glass, lots of spice, pleasant heat and a good finish. Drink/hold
